Ever wondered why some singers catapulted to stardom rather quickly, some sparkled, flickered a little and then faded into obscurity while most singers stayed the same for years if not forever at mediocrity level?
Why is it that most singers never make it big in their singing career, not to say becoming superstars? Well, for starters, most singers begin their career as a lounge singer, singing in small clubs and belting out cover versions of established and popular singers. They selection of songs will be dictated by their audiences and so they must cover a wide genre of songs. Read more »

Thinking of taking up singing as a hobby or career, then congratulations! Music is considered by many to be another form of language. It’s styles and genders can vary greatly across the globe. Much like an author writing a book on a subject that he feels passionate about, music allows one to express their feelings.
Music is something that provides happiness to the world and can often cross political, ethnic and religious divides. It is so moving that it can bring people together, give happiness or make them cry for joy. It is enjoyed by so many and the desire to perform is a dream pursued by several.
Many feel that they can not sing, but wish they could. There are others who have good voices and wish to improve them. Whether you want to begin singing or take steps to improve your voice, all you have to do is take a couple of singing lessons. These lessons are not only enjoyable, but will also better improve your melodic tone. Read more »

Lots of musicians, whether they are in a rock band or interested in opera are interested in how to get better at singing. It takes three things: practice, dedication, and a good training program, whether it is a teacher or something else.
Of course, there are a few steps along the way. Ears, voice, and body must work together to make a sound, and just as with any other instrument, any slight changes to the shape or condition of the body can have drastic effects on the end result.
First thing you’ll want to do is train your ears. Your ears help you determine if your vocal chords are singing the right pitches. Ear training is one of the essential courses of study at any university level music program, and transcends all instruments. Read more »

Some were just born with a gift. But if you want to learn how to sing, here are a few things you can keep in mind.
Try to think of someone you know that knows how to sing really well. Now ask that person if you can sing along with them. Find someone who is adventurous in the vocal range, someone who can give you things to try. Keep in mind when you sing that it is always best to stand up to sing as it allows more air into the lungs.
Warm ups are good for most anything, singing included. To warm up your vocal chords you can try singing the ever popular “do ray me fa so la ti doh” scale that we all know and love. Might want to have some fun with it and sing that song from the Sound of Music that adds a fun twist to the more boring do ray me.
Once your vocal cords are loosened up you can start singing with a song that you already know, one that you are comfortable singing. Like me, I love some songs but I know that they aren’t to be sung by me. No sense hacking them to pieces.
But I do sing the ones I know I can do and once I get real comfortable I add some “umph” to it and really try to project my voice.
If you are unsure of how to project your voice, imagine that you are singing to people at the back of a hall and you want them to hear you. To do that you don’t have to scream. That isn’t anything anybody wants to hear. Read more »
Some people are born with the gift of song, it comes naturally to them, flowing from their mouths like vocal poetry — music to the ears. For others, it is not such an easy feat.
Years of practice training and hard work are dedicated to perfecting their voice all the while in search of that highly coveted “perfect pitch.”
If you fall somewhere in the middle of perfect pitch and tone deaf, you may be like most people who would like to know how to sing well.
Here are a few tips to get you starting on singing well …
